How can Solar Thermal benefit my home?
partly_cloudy_day
We have been Solar Thermal installers for the past 20 years, designing and installing solar systems throughout London and Kent, even during the dark times, before it became a popular renewable choice.
With the onset of ever-increasing energy bills, Solar thermal is rapidly gaining momentum in this country, and for good reason.
Solar thermal energy is a completely renewable and sustainable resource, making it a reliable long-term energy source.

One thing’s for certain: most people in the western world are not going to get tired of a nice hot shower any time soon, giving solar thermal energy a significant advantage.
It provides a virtually endless source of heat whenever the sun is out, and the best part? You don’t need a perfectly sunny day for it to work. Any sort of UV radiation from the sun will give you some heat.
savings
The more hot water you use, the more you save, and the more expensive electric, gas and oil become, the more it accumulates. On average, it’s estimated that 40% of your fossil fuel energy bill is purely down to hot water.
If we look at an average gas bill of around £150 a month (£1800 a year), £720 of this is hot water, and solar thermal can take care of 60% of this, so you’d be looking at a saving of £432 every year!

To put it simply, solar thermal is a clean, renewable way to cut down on energy use and pollution.
Having a guilt-free shower in the knowledge that your hot water has come from a 100% renewable source is very satisfying, not just for our wallets but also for our conscience.

We have successfully retrofitted solar thermal onto roofs all over London and the southeast.
We can integrate solar thermal to work seamlessly with other renewable technologies like heat pumps and solar PV or even pair it with your existing fossil fuel boiler as a hybrid solution to help reduce your fuel consumption.
It can be configured in a variety of ways to suit the system we’re integrating into, or we can design a completely bespoke setup from scratch.

We strongly disbelieve in the one-size-fits-all solutions that other competitors offer.
We utilise all the manufacturer’s offerings at our disposal to find the right sort of panels that work with the space available on your roof. Also, we look at the available space inside your property to ensure you have the correct size cylinder that matches your solar panel’s power rating.
support_agent
We’re here for the long haul, offering ongoing advice to help you get the most from your system and providing technical support for any early hiccups you might encounter.
We genuinely value your feedback and love hearing how you’re getting on with your system, which helps us improve and inspires others to make the switch to renewable energy.
Throughout the life of your solar setup, we’ll send you service reminders and carry out minor tweaks or recalibrations as needed to keep everything running smoothly

Every solar system we can bring back to life is one more step toward reducing boiler use.
If we believe it’s financially viable to repair, we’ll do everything we can to get your system back up and running.
Let’s help you discover the perfect solar thermal solution for reliable hot water and lower energy bills.
One of our friendly team members will get back to you within 24 hours (on working days) with a few key questions to help point you in the right direction.
Once we have a better idea of your needs, we’ll guide you towards either a remote consultation or an on-site technical survey, whichever suits your project best.
Sunlight is free, so by installing solar water heaters you can reduce your hot water costs.
This system can generate up to 60% of a home’s annual hot water needs – potentially meeting 100% of hot water demand in summer months.
It is a cost-effective, low-investment way to produce hot water that is suitable for any home, whether newly constructed or retrofitted into an existing structure.
Though installing solar hot water systems can be costly upfront, they are inexpensive to operate long-term. Despite needing more maintenance than solar PV systems, solar hot water systems remain a low-maintenance option overall.
Installing solar thermal hot water heating requires minimal disruption and can yield significant cost savings, making this renewable technology a practical, cost-effective upgrade for both new and existing properties.
The system operates year-round, but additional heating with a boiler or immersion heater is needed, particularly in winter, to boost the water temperature. It can meet approximately 90% of hot water needs in summer, decreasing to roughly 25% in winter.
Solar water heating provides a renewable way to heat water and can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Solar thermal panels require less roof space than photovoltaic panels.
Solar thermal technology provides environmentally friendly water heating by harnessing the sun’s energy rather than burning fossil fuels. Widespread adoption of this renewable resource could reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and mitigate climate change.
Solar thermal energy systems can provide a return on investment (ROI) over their lifetime. This is because the savings on water heating bills will likely exceed the cost of the system itself.

Roof-mounted panels or tubes, called solar collectors, are designed to absorb heat from the sun.
When there is a enough of a differential between the bottom of the hot water cylinder and the panels (usually 7 Deg c) a pump triggers and gently moves transfer fluid similar to anti freeze from the panels to the bottom of the hot water cylinder.
This hot water can then be transferred directly to the taps or used to pre-heat a combi boiler.
As hot water is used, this cools the cylinder at the bottom and then the whole process starts all over again giving lots of free hot water to enjoy.
