The Cloverleaf story started in 1995 when one of our directors (Dean) was 21 years old, fresh out of his four-year electrical and mechanical apprenticeship working for Powergen.
After working for several small maintenance companies and picking up valuable experience along the way, Dean quickly realised that working for someone else was not suitable for him, so he dived into business with his best friend, providing simple plumbing and electrical solutions for local customers, building a solid reputation in the Dartford area.
The business was based around a simple concept that if we turned up on time and went above and beyond to provide quality work with honesty and integrity, we would build our customers organically through recommendation, which is still the moral code that echoes deep within Cloverleaf today.
Good customer service in the building trade was less common in those days, so we pounced on a clear gap in the market.

Greener decisions
Ten years later, the duo parted, while Dean followed his ambitions of building a bigger business.
Now armed with Gas, Electrical and Plumbing trades under his belt and with the help of ActionCOACH (a business coaching programme), Dean started the long road of learning how to run a business, rather than being a tradesman.
The plumbing and heating business grew despite mistakes and failures along the way, however, hard work and perseverance overcame the difficult times.
At this point, Cloverleaf was mainly focused on boiler upgrades and general plumbing, but we needed to move with the times and follow a greener path.
So in 2011, the decision was made to close Cloverleaf Maintenance and start Cloverleaf Plumbing Heating and Renewables.

The firm’s top engineer, Ben, was appointed as a director, and together we started our Renewable Energy journey alongside our traditional plumbing services.
Conscious of the ever-increasing rise in energy prices and the growing demand to help clients reduce their energy bills, we immersed ourselves in extensive heat pump and solar training.
This concept has set us apart from other traditional plumbing companies. Thanks to our focus on reducing fossil fuel usage, we could now offer greener alternatives.
Incorporating energy-saving advice and recommendations into our day-to-day interactions with clients has been a game changer.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the skills and expertise of the passionate team behind Cloverleaf, flying the flag for energy efficiency and excellent customer service every day.
From the early days of Cloverleaf, key personnel are still with us today, playing pivotal roles in the day-to-day running of the business operations and continuing to help us improve and grow the company.
Lina has been instrumental in the office, maintaining order and managing the finances in many difficult circumstances, yet always bringing Cloverleaf out of the other side.
Our business partner, Ben, is deeply involved on the operational side of the business and is the Ying to Deans Yang, constantly finding innovative ways to complete the most challenging projects and leaving clients feeling satisfied they made the right decision to use Cloverleaf.
MCS certified
In April 2021 with the new Boiler Upgrade Scheme promised by Boris, we felt the time was right to become MCS Certified (an independent certification scheme that certifies microgeneration (renewable energy) products and installers). And with a lot of blood, sweat and tears, we haven’t looked back since.
Our MCS accreditation to design and install solar thermal and heat pumps, combined with our historic plumbing experience, has allowed us to progress quickly. Providing customers with balanced advice on how to decarbonise their homes and businesses while keeping an open mind to other energy sources when 100% renewables may not be the perfect fit.

Today, the team is 13 strong and still growing to meet the ever-increasing needs of the Renewable Energy sector, using all our experience to tailor the most viable renewable energy solutions for all our clients.
It’s ironic to think, from working in a coal-fired power station in the nineties and seeing tons of carbon emissions disappearing up the chimney back then, to now advising customers about renewable energy, you could say Dean has travelled full circle!
Dean is now an accredited consultant within the business, offering invaluable advice to potential clients and providing technical support to the teams on the road when needed.
